Say goodbye to boring, tasteless side dishes!
We all know the importance of eating multiple servings of vegetables every day, right? After all, they are loaded with essential vitamins that our bodies need to be healthy! However, healthy vegetable recipes don’t have to be boring and tasteless. Our Fried Green Beans Recipe proves it! It has it all and combines incredible flavors with nutrient-rich ingredients.
Would you like me to add radishes to fried green beans?
Not a fan of radishes? You are certainly not alone, but we strongly encourage you to give them another chance in this Fried Green Beans with Radish Recipe. I personally love radishes in every shape. In fact, I’ve been known to cut them into slices and eat them as a chip substitute because they are so crispy and flavorful.
Raw radishes tend to have a peppery bite that some people find off-putting. If this sounds like you, try cooking them instead. Cooked radishes acquire a milder, nuttier taste and also lose their sharpness.
No cooking oil required!
Since we’re using a non-stick pan to make this recipe, no extra oil is needed for cooking. However, we sprinkle toasted sesame oil on the finished dish for several reasons.
First, it adds an interesting dimension and a lot of flavor to the finished dish. Second, you can limit the amount of fat in the recipe as a little goes a long way and uses less. Finally, toasted sesame oil complements the nutty taste of cooked radishes.
It is worth noting that you should only use toasted sesame oil to finish a dish, salad dressings, or undercooked sauces. Toasted sesame oil has a lower smoke point (the point where oil burns) than regular sesame oil or a mixture, so you should never use it in cooking.
The perfect pairing
Now that you know the basics, it’s time to try these fried green beans. You can serve them as an accompaniment to a variety of starters, including chicken, turkey, fish, and more! Consider one of these delicious recipes:
- 1 lb red radishes Stems and root ends removed, quartered
- 1/2 onion small, thinly cut
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce or coconut aminos, low in sodium
- 1 lb green beans trimmed
- 2 teaspoon sesame oil toasted
- 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds toasted
- 1 teaspoon red chilli flakes Optional
Preheat the non-stick pan or wok over medium to high heat.
Add radishes, onions, and soy sauce.
Stir fry for 5-6 minutes until the radishes start to brown slightly and become tender.
Add green beans and cook for another 3-4 minutes until tender and crispy.
Remove from heat, add sesame oil, sesame and red chilli flakes, if used.
This recipe is perfect for sugar snap peas too! All you have to do is swap out the green beans!
